IMAS wants to change the way we think about, participate in, and enjoy sport
Seeking a fairer and more equal society
Bringing people with different abilities together to play sports
Wanting people to learn from each other
WHAT IS MIXED ABILITY?
Mixed Ability was born out of the lack of opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in mainstream community sport as equal members.
Mixed Ability includes people who face various barriers related to disability, low confidence, lack of financial resources, or other personal circumstances.
This means participating without being separated, classified, or labeled.
Mixed Ability recognizes the right of everyone to participate in community sport.
It also recognizes that everyone can benefit from its transformative power.
This helps create safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental sporting environments.
Mixed Ability sports follow the same rules as mainstream sports.
Only minor adjustments are made to meet each person’s individual needs.
